I grew up in temple town Udupi so obviously I always search for temples around Bangalore.
Weekends if we don’t have any scheduled work as such,I prefer to visit a temple rather than a mall. Except for watching movies I would never want to spend my time in malls as it would be very crowded, noisy and suffocating also.
We made a quick trip to Nanjangud Srikanteshwara Temple last weekend. It is situated on the banks of river Kapila and is one of the oldest temples. Lord Nanjundeshwara/Shiva here is also called as Hakeema Nanjunda.Hakeema means doctor in Urdu. When Tippu Sultan’s Royal elephant had lost its eyesight, he worshiped Lord Nanjundeshwara and had faith in Him. The eyesight of the elephant got recovered and Lord Nanjundeshwara was called as “Hakeema Nanjundeshwara” by Tippu Sultan.
The temple is big, calm and quite.Got nice darshanam of the god and spent some time on the
banks of the river.

Temple is around 30 km from Mysore and takes around 3 hours to reach from Bangalore.
