Haridasaru means servants of Lord Vishnu(hari) in Kannada.These people are followers of Shri Madhwacharya who floated dvaita philosophy.They conveyed his preachings in a very simple and clear style so as to be understood by the common people.The Haridasa compositions are popularly known as Devaranamas (songs written praising the almighty).
This haridasa movement was one of the greatest Bhakti(devotional) movement which made significance contribution to the Kannada devotional literature.
Sri Vijaya Dasaru played a significant role in this.He was one among the main Haridasas and composed more than 25000 devotional songs.All his songs end with praying lord VijayaVittala (i.e his Ankita/Signature).
Cheekalaparvi which is in Manvi Taluk of Raichur District is the birth place of Shri Vijayadasaru.His real name was Dasappa,popularly called as Koosi Maga Dasappa.We can see his old photo and the pooja items used by him in his house at Cheekalaparvi.Below picture shows the Saane Kallu( the stone used to grind the rice,dal etc) used by Vijayadasaru.People who comes to chikalparvi take some rice kept in the Saane Kallu.It is believed that by using that rice any kind of illness will be cured.You can also see a small vessel, in which he bought ganga water from kashi.

Below picture shows the place where Shri Vijayadasaru used to sit and pray god under a Big Banyan Tree.
Its called as Vijayadasara Katte.

There is a temple in the place,called Sri Ashwatha narasimha temple.Dedicated to lord Narasimha,this temple was established by Sri Padarayaru.Its also believed the big banayan tree was planted by Sri Padarajaru around 600 years ago.

Vrindavana of Sri Vijayadasaru is in Chippagiri which is in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh.Every year on some auspicious day,his ‘Aradhana‘ is celebrated with great devotion.The location where the aradhana is celebrated is called ‘Sri Vijaya Dasara Katte’ (Vrundavana).Thousands of people attend this function and get blessings.
You can also see a small Tamburi in the picture which was given to Vijayadasaru by Shri Purandaradasaru.
Other interesting things are a small pond where he used to take bath,now called as Vijaya Teertha and temples visited by him.
Kalluru Subbannacharyaru,one among his followers has written Vijaya Kavacha praising Vijayadasaru which is very popular.Its believed that saying the Vijaya Kavacha everyday brings you good luck and propsperity.Also he has written a shloka which we always say before sleeping everynight.I have shared both of them.

ದಾಸರಾಯನ ದಯವ ಸೂಸಿ ಪಡೆದನ ದೋಷರಹಿತನ ಸಂತೋಷಭರಿತನ ||1||

ಸುರರು ಎಲ್ಲರು ಇವರ ಕರವ ಪಿಡಿವರೋ ತರಳರಂದದಿ ಹಿಂದೆ ತಿರುಗುತಿಪ್ಪರೋ ||19||

Chikalaparavi which is birth place of Vijayadasaru is around 12km from Manvi (close to Mantralaya).You can hire auto/jeep in Manvi to go.Chippagiri is around 9 KMs from Guntoor which has a railway station.Below sites give more details.

Kallur Mahalakshmi Temple which is in Manvi Taluk is around 20 kms from Raichur.Kallur is also called as second Kollaphur where Goddess Mahalakshmi dwells.The temple has statues of both Lord Venkateshwara and Mahalakshmi.The temple has a great prominence as both Srinivsa and Lakshmi ( husband and wife) are situated together in this place.We know that Lord Srinivasa is located in Tirupati and Mahalkshmi in Kollaphur.This is the only place where you can see both of them together.

The temple is very auspisious for marriage.They have a procedure here to pray for that.You need to tie a coconut in the temple praying for marriage and after the marriage you should visit the temple. Priest also said that if you call/mail him if will pray and tie the coconut on behalf of you.After your wish is fulfilled you can visit the temple.

Priest also gave me a piece of paper containing the shlokas/mantras which are helpful for marriage and getting child.I am sharing it below.The procedure is everyday after taking bath you should chant them with belief and faith in goddess Mahalakshmi.

Thanks to Mr.Ashok (contact_ashok@hotmail.com) who has recently visited the temple and gave me updated phone numbers and other details of the temple.

1. The Archakas’ post is rotated on annual basis amongst their families and this is called ‘Paryaya’.
2. Devotees can offer Naivedyam pooja or just have ‘Darshana’. Those (males) who offer Naivedyam pooja will have to wear ‘veshti’ (traditional white cloth similar to ‘lungi’ but not ‘lungi’) during lunch which is served like ‘prasadam’. It is preferable for women to wear sarees. This is to be noted imporantly by those devotees who wish to offer ‘Naivedyam’ pooja.
3. There is no fixed charges for Naivedyam pooja. It is upto people’s wish to give any amount of ‘dakshina’, which is an honorarium given to Archakas for their Archaka (service). Definitely Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi will be pleased if we serve those who serve Her.
4. There is no provision to get a lodge/stay facility in Kallur. The nearest place would be Raichur.
Devotees who come from far off places can go to Raichur and come to the Temple after having bath, food etc.
5. Devotees who wish to offer Naivedyam pooja should reach the Temple by 10:00 AM. It would be good if they speak to the Paryaya Archaka on phone before they plan their journey. This will help them to know the conditions regarding travel, weather etc.
