the journey continues…

After mustard festival,frog festival,garlic festival..its the time of pumpkins here…Its called as pumpkin patches.Pumpkin patches are nothing but pumpkin sales event.Farmers sell pumpkins in big yards or in their own farms.To attract the crowd they nicely arrange those pumpkins in the farms and add some activities and games for kids like pony rides,petting zoo,scary zone etc.
They also grow corn and make corn mazes in the farm.
Every year Pumpkin festival will be held in Half Moon Bay where they will conduct Giant Pumpkin Contest.Nearly 100 people will partcipate with their huge pumpkins to win this award and 15000$ prize.This year’s winner was Ron Root and his prize-winning pumpkin weighed 1,535 pounds.(below pic)

Whole this month people cook only pumpkings at home.They will make pumpkin salad,cake,pies,breads,muffins what not ? all the cooking shows in TV would be full of pumpkin recipes.
One more thing they will do here is carving pumpkins.There would be competitions for carving these pumpkins in different designs and styles.

We visited Joans Farm which was pretty good and fun.
