Bekal fort is about 16 km South of Kasaragod district of Kerala.You would need 3-4 hours to reach this place from Udupi.

Bekal fort is one of the largest forts in Kerala.This fort is more than 300 years old and is believed to have been built by Sivappa Naik of the Ikkeri dynasty.
The fort is completely on sea shore which is a real advantage for seeing beautiful sunrise and sunset.
Early mornings and evenings are best time to visit the fort. Due to its historic relevance,the fort is well maintained by Archeological Survey Of India.
Most of the Kannada movie-songs shooting happen here.The famous song Tu Hi Re from Bombay was shooted in this fort.Summers would be really hot here and best time to visit is from September to December.
